When the paper still shows up

Tally sheets. Vessel, date, hatch or hold, gang, shift, port of loading, bill of lading, commodity and tally clerk, plus a row for every bundle: bundle number, piece count, weight, heat number, mark and condition. Totals come back too, so they can be checked against the rows.

Relocation sheets. A simpler shape: date, warrant number and bay, one row per move. These get an extra pass that flags anomalous warrant numbers, because a mistyped warrant is the error on that form that actually costs money later.

Both come back with a self-reported confidence level, so a sheet the model found difficult says so instead of presenting a clean-looking guess.

1. Photograph or upload. An image or a PDF, taken on the phone already in someone’s pocket. No new hardware and no app for the crew to learn.
2. Review. Everything comes back as editable rows next to the original image, so a correction is a keystroke rather than a re-entry.
3. Export. CSV out, or generate a mate’s receipt draft from a completed tally.

The extraction is the least interesting part. What makes it usable is what sits around it.

• History. Every capture is saved with its original file, so a sheet can be reopened later rather than living in one person’s downloads folder.
• An edit record. Both the raw extraction and your corrections are kept, so you can see exactly what the model got wrong rather than taking anyone’s word for the accuracy.
• A rating on each capture. One tap, which turns quality into a real signal instead of an impression.
• Sample mode. Runs against a bundled example sheet with no upload, which is useful for a demo or a quick look offline.

Extraction quality on genuinely bad handwriting is what you would expect. The review step exists because the model is an accelerant, not an oracle, and the product is designed around that being true.

There is also a current upload ceiling of a few megabytes per document, which is a platform constraint rather than a product decision, and it is on the list to remove before Capture goes in front of a crew at scale.

Capture is deliberately the smallest of the three products. Cost models and briefings are where most terminals get their value, and we would rather say that than oversell a scanner.
